Via Rail Adds Prestige Class to Trans-Canadian Trains

Via Rail is adding a new level of luxury to its Trans-Canadian train, the Canadian, with its Prestige Class. These private sleeper cabins come with a double bed, en-suite shower, and large windows. They offer priority seating, dining reservations and more.

Travelers have a choice of three classes for overnight accommodations onboard the Canadian: Sleeper Plus, Economy and Prestige. All feature the impeccable service and amenities you expect from VIA Rail, including comfortable seats, gourmet meals and non-alcoholic beverages, and a dedicated concierge.

A great way to see the best of Canada Canada Rail Vacations and experience the beauty of a bygone era is on a classic train trip, with this Canadian itinerary featuring an unforgettable ride across the country to Toronto. This tour also includes a full day exploring Niagara Falls and a visit to Jasper National Park.

This Canadian vacation is the perfect combination of sightseeing and relaxation, featuring a ride on the iconic train from Vancouver to Toronto. In addition to seeing the cities and their rich history, you will enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Canadian Rockies.

You’ll be treated to a spacious, modern cabin, complete with a leather L-shaped sofa that converts into a double bed at night, an en suite bathroom, a flat-screen TV and complimentary drinks and food throughout the journey. You can even take in the scenic view from your window.

These are some of the finest cabins on a scheduled train trip in North America, and are available only for trips between Vancouver and Toronto. They include a modular leather L-shaped couch by day and a Murphy bed for two at night, private washrooms and showers, a minibar with a selection of complimentary drinks, and larger windows than in other room categories.

The bullet lounge in the Park Car is my favorite place on the train, as is the observation dome at the rear of the car. It is also an excellent place to grab a bite to eat, with its smart dining car and bar serving a variety of snacks and hot meals.

There are a number of other cars to choose from, depending on your route and service class. Some have smart dining, free WiFi, and digital onboard entertainment. Other have a full dome lounge.

Business passengers can upgrade their tickets to Business Plus for added comfort and convenience, including a private cabin, complimentary drinks, gourmet meals and access to the Business lounge. Passengers can also reserve a seat in a semi-private room, which is a two-person bunk that turns into an upper and lower berth at night.

Lastly, Business Plus passengers have access to a special, private business lounge, where they can meet with a friendly concierge and enjoy priority seating and priority dining.

The price of this service can vary depending on time of year, demand, travel points and discount promotions. However, the price is usually comparable to the cost of a regular bedroom on other trains.
